Science Caf of Olympia

Science Cafe

Join us for an informative talk on Western Washington Bats presented by, Greg Falxa of the Cascadia Research Collective. Falxa will cover the different life history strategies for bats in Western Washington, as well as what we can do to slow or reverse the trend that will lead to far fewer bats in our ecosystems. Eleven species of bats reside in Western Washington and several more on the arid side of the state. Gradual changes in habitat, reduced prey base, and in the eastern US, white-nose syndrome, which has caused a large number of deaths of hibernating bats, are all attributed to the lower population count of bats. Falxa is looking forward to the observations and questions from the Science Caf audience.

Join usat the Coffeehouse on Tuesday, November 9at 7:00 pm to listen to the lecture or ask questions. This event is organized by The Puget Sound Section of the American Chemical Society with help from the public television series NOVA scienceNOW and sciencecafes.org.
