Over 100 people gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center to watch finalists, including Batdorf & Bronson's® Atlanta Training Manager, Chandler Rentz, compete for the Southeast Regional Barista Championship and the Brewers Cup. In addition to Dominy, Dancing Goats® Coffee Bar barista, Randy Harrell, competed as a finalist in the Brewers Cup. The Dancing Goats® Coffee Bar in Decatur is owned and Operated by Batdorf & Bronson® Coffee Roasters. Although competitors in the Brewers Cup all used the same coffee in the first round, they used a coffee of their choice for the finals. Dominy chose Batdorf & Bronson's® Colombia Estrella Del Sur. Competitors had 10 minutes to prepare three cups of coffee for three judges using the hand brewing method of their choice. Dominy used the Clever cone, which is a hybrid full immersion/pourover brewer. Dominy is the second Batdorf & Bronson® employee to place in a regional Brewers Cup competition. Will Frith, who works in the Training and Education Department, recently took third place in the Northwest competition. Both Dominy and Frith will now compete in the National Brewers Cup competition to be held during the Specialty Coffee Association of Americas annual convention in Houston, April 27 May 1, 2011.
