Batdorf & Bronson® Coffee Roasters’ Green Coffee Buyer, Bob Benck boarded a Costa Rica bound flight yesterday for our annual visit of the La Minita farm in the mountainous Tarrazu region. Hacienda La Minita has long been a model for coffee estates around the world due to the farm’s social equity, 200 acre wildlife reserve and its outstanding coffee.
This annual visit includes a tour of the farm and the mill, a day of harvesting coffee and lots of time spent cupping next year’s coffee crop. To further strengthen our relationship with wholesale customers and provide them with an opportunity to further grow their business, Stefany Dybeck, Director of Sales will be joining Bob this weekend along with Scott Morel and Ryan Sheridan owners of Seattle’s Café Javasti who have long expressed their eagerness to experience coffee at source. In addition to the La Minita activities we will also be meeting with Christian Mora from AFAORCA in the Tarrazu Valley of Costa Rica. He is one of the leaders of the cooperative that produces our Organic Costa Rica Cerro del Fuego. The group will visit the co-op’s organic café, tour their organic fertilizer project, and visit with co-op members. They will also discuss and observe the current harvest. Pura Vida!
